“Find something you love, and do it”

The above is a phrase from a movie I watched tonight.  It was the answer of
one teenager, to another, to the question:

“What am I going to do.  What am I going to do for the rest of my life?”
The answer was:

“Find something you like, and do it.  And hope that you are good at it,
otherwise you will fail.”

What really struck me about the above conversation, was the underlying
wisdom in the concept that it was more important to do what you like, than to
succeed.  I have always maintained that, when you do what you like, you
greatly increase the likelihood of your being successful.

However, in line with the realization I had over the Christmas weekend, when
picking up those little pieces of wire on the roof of our tank-house on the
farm, I now realize that the enjoyment of what you are doing, is probably
more important than the success.

With other words, previously, I would have said that the reason you have to
find something you like, is because it enhances your chances of success.
However, I’m beginning to think that, the reason you have to do something
you like is simply that – because you like it.
Do What You Love!
